A New Chapter: Transitioning Leadership in Our Board of Trustees
As we embark on a new chapter, we are excited to announce a change in the leadership of our Board of Trustees from September 2024. This transition marks an important moment for our community, as we express our immense gratitude for our outgoing Chair, Peter Ross, and welcome our existing Trustee, Tracey Hancock, as she steps up into the Chair role.
A Fond Farewell (Almost!)
First and foremost, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Peter. As a court judge, rather than giving Tony another prison sentence, Peter gave Tony the chance to find freedom from addiction by sending him to rehab. After turning his life around, Tony approached Peter to ask for help in setting up a charity to support others: In 2019, Peter became a founding Trustee and Chair, and Hope and Vision Communities was born.
Peter has shown unwavering dedication and vision over the past 5 years, guiding the organisation through challenges (including getting the charity established despite the COVID-19 pandemic) and celebrating great successes. Under his leadership, we have achieved significant milestones, such as co-hosting our first major public event, obtaining our first 8 properties and filling them with residents. We are delighted that Peter will still be involved as a Trustee this year and that we don’t have to fully say goodbye yet!
Peter writes: "Having twice sentenced Tony Attwood it has been both uplifting and humbling to watch how he has turned his life around and is now making such a positive contribution to the lives of others who are making the difficult journey away from drug and alcohol addictions. It is quite extraordinary that in under five years Tony's brainchild has developed to the point where we have so many men in our community and are on the cusp of providing ongoing recovery support to women. I have been so very grateful to have a strong team of Trustees during my time as Chair, and my thanks go also to our staff, who have worked with such dedication in often difficult times. I know Tracey will do a splendid job in her new role and I look forward to being one of her Trustees."
Welcoming Our New Chair
We are thrilled to announce that Tracey Hancock will be taking the helm as the new Chair of the Board of Trustees. With a background in fundraising in the charitable sector for over 20 years, and a passion for the mission and values of Hope and Vision Communities, she brings a wealth of knowledge and ideas that align perfectly with our vision for the future. Tracey has a proven track record of management at a Director level and we are confident that her leadership will guide us as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead. Tracey has been a valuable asset to the Board of Trustees; we are thrilled to officially welcome her as Chair!
Tracey writes: “I have very much enjoyed being part of the Trustee Board for the past year, and now look forward to stepping into the role of Chair and working with my fellow Trustees and the team to take Hope and Vision to its next stage of growth. So much has been achieved in such a short time and I am excited by plans for the future and building communities to support those leaving rehab and rebuilding their lives. I am hugely grateful to Peter for all his support and delighted he will remain on the Board for the next year.”
