Places Leisure – with over 100 health and wellbeing facilties nationwide – are thrilled to announce a partnership with Wokingham based charity Hope and Vision Communities to support men in recovery from addiction who are working hard for a second chance at life.
Places Leisure recognise that physical activity can support the management of health issues associated with addiction, and help reduce anxiety, depression and stress which are often common factors of relapse. They are supporting our residents through a 12-week pilot programme to improve their health and wellbeing.
Hope and Vision Communities Resident Mark said “Going to the gym as a result of this partnership has really helped me mentally. It’s so important. I now recognise when I go into a slump. I can’t thank Places Leisure enough for sorting it. A good mental attitude really helps me health wise, which has a knock on effective with recovery and life”.
Healthy Communities Manager for the Wokingham contract, Molly Hale, said:
"This partnership not only enables individuals to manage their own wellbeing but will also support their training for the 21 Peaks Challenge they have coming on November 11/12 to raise vital funds necessary to reach more men in need of support. It’s a great challenge to take on to show that there’s no mountain you can’t climb if you’ve got the right people around you.”
Every penny counts in the challenge to climb 21 Peaks in 2 days.
